Baby Steps

 Tuesday 2/1

Tammy is slowly but steadily healing. Each day is a little more progress. She of course wants to be up running a marathon already. We take a couple of naps each day as she is up two to three times a night. She cannot get herself out of the recliner, so I gladly help her. The weather has been great. She needs to take 5 walks for fifteen minutes each. It is a slow progress, but God is so good and takes care of us.

Good Morning Sunshine

 Sunday 1/30

It was a good night. She was able to get some decent sleep. She was only up twice to use the bathroom and take some meds. Unfortunately, one of the meds needs to be taken at 1 am.

We are looking forward to watching service online and enjoying the presence of God!

The rest of her day will include her walks, resting, walking, resting, walking, resting some more. Resting and doing nothing is not one her strengths. But she has no choice in the matter.

We pray everyone has a blessed time in service today!

Let's Get Outta This Joint

 Saturday 1/29

I was finally able to bust her loose from the Hospital! They took the IV out, some other monitoring things (less cables for her!), and gave her a shower. Things were a little bit of a challenge getting into and out of the vehicle. That was not fun. The rental place we have is a much better place to recuperate.

As I was driving in last night, there was a mama deer with two babies that were just on the other side of the fence.

There is a much more comfortable recliner for her to relax in. There is still some pain, but she is a trooper and just relaxing allowing God to heal her. Some of the swelling on her right side is a little better already. The doctor said that it is 95% common with this surgery to get some initial swelling because of the length of the surgery. It will normally absorb into your body and be removed when going to the bathroom.

We are both thankful for this place and how peaceful feeling it is. There is a nice stone walkway around it that she will be doing her laps tomorrow. Sunday temp is supposed be a high of 68 and sunny. For all our northern friends and family, we are not trying to rub it in at all. We are just thankful for the warmth to be able to walk around in. She needs to walk at least five times a day for 15 minutes each.

Day 3

Saturday 1/29

Tammy had a good night. She was able to get some sleep. She was up for a walk this morning already. Doctor will visit this morning and we should find out when she can be discharged.

Little baby steps of progress. She is excited to get discharged. They will help her take a shower, which should go a long way to help her feel better.

I am checking out of the hotel today and moving to the VRBO house. I think the change of location will be a big step for her.

Day 2

 Friday 1/28

Today was a good day. She was up doing three laps around the floor. Throughout the day. Her pain was a up a little bit, but they say that is normal as everything gets out of her system. The reconstructed area is doing great.

Being in a hospital is just not a fun place to be. The staff here are awesome.

Tammy of course thinks that she should be running the halls. I have to keep reminding her that she has been out of surgery for less than a day.

Every day is a step closer to feeling better.

Doctor visit

 Friday 1/28 8:15 am

The doctor was just in doing a check-up. She said everything looks really good. This was a PA that was In the OR yesterday. She said that this was a common time for this specific type of surgery. There are monitors over the flaps that were transplanted from her legs. The readings are really good. 😁

Most likely she will be discharged tomorrow. We have a VRBO in a quiet area, so that should be awesome for the next week to recover.

She is sitting and eating some breakfast, which should hopefully help her with strength and be able to walk some.

Please continue to pray for strength, swelling to go down, and pain to remain low.

Recovery day .5

 Friday 1/28

This morning they got her out of bed and into the chair. Praise God that her pain level is low. She has been taking Tylenol for pain. This is an amazing part of the pain protocol they use called ERAS. That was one reason we chose these doctors.

She is texting, drinking water, and waiting for breakfast.
